ASM Affiliates (ASM) has immediate openings for full-time Assistant Archaeologists in our Honolulu office. ASM is a consulting firm specializing in archaeology, history, architectural history and cultural resource management (CRM) with offices throughout the western U.S. and Hawaiʻi. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our dedicated team of professionals and work in a collegial and positive environment at an employee-owned company.
The Assistant Archaeologist will perform construction monitoring, survey, excavation, laboratory analysis, and assist in the preparation of technical reports under the direction of senior staff. Some off-island travel may be necessary. Clean driving record is required. Previous experience in Hawaiʻi and/or the Pacific Islands is strongly preferred.
Requirements include a B.A. degree in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, or related field. Some experience in CRM preferred. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience writing portions of technical reports, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the abililty to positively interact with clients and supervisory personnel.
Work duties will be performed outdoors and may occasionally be in remote environments. Duties may require hiking over long distances, standing for long durations, the lifting and transport of loads up to 25 lbs., and the use of protective equipment in hazardous environments.
ASM offers a compensation package that includes competitive pay, professional development, a comprehensive benefits package including medical and dental, paid vacation/sick, and holiday leave, participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan, 401k, and bonus plan. The pay range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour and will be commensurate with the applicant’s credentials, experience and responsibilities.
