KEIKI POSTER DESIGN CONTEST 

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all Hawai‘i keiki Kindergarten through Grade 12 or any Hawai‘i resident under 19 years of age.

ENTRY MUST BE RECEIVED BY SEPTEMBER 24, 2024 and must include the permission form downloaded here:

THEME

Preserving and Sharing the History of Hawai‘i through Archaeology

FORMAT

18 x 24 inches poster or at least 11 x 17 with a portrait or landscape orientation. Minimum resolution for scanned entries is 2700 by 3600 pixels.

CRITERIA

There will be two categories for entries: Grades K-5 and 6-12. The winning design will be selected based on originality, composition, and relevance to theme.

Prizes

  • Poster showcased throughout Hawaiʻi during Archaeology Week
  • $100 Nā Mea Hawai‘i gift certificate (https://www.nameahawaii.com/)
  • family admission to local museum
  • Printed copy of poster
  • Several runner-up posters will also be showcased.

INSPIRATION / IDEAS

Your favorite archaeological site, artifact, mo‘olelo, or wahi kūpuna. Combine images (photos, hand drawings, and/or digital images) and written words to share the story of your chosen topic. Research your topic by talking to community members, and by exploring books and the internet. Here are a few websites to start your journey:
